Event Details

On the 4th week of each month, CET invites experts and experienced entrepreneurs to share the building blocks to get your company off the ground.

As a startup, it’s important to build a business model that is viable, and for the most part profitable.   In order to sustain itself, there are some key things to keep in mind for your startup to generate revenue. Join Jill Loftin as she shares her experiences in her startup and Marc Bowers of St. Louis Makes who will share some lessons learned in his 20 plus years of new product development, product management and business development.

Jill Loftin
Jill  Loftin aka Cook Cop started her career with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in 1988 and served for 25 years but had a passion for creating food as an experience.  Hence, Mom’s Chicken Sausage was born in February 2015 in honor to her  mother Sandra Loftin who passed away September 9, 2015. Two years later, she connected with St. Louis Makes  which introduced her to the Square One Program with CET  to learn how to take her business to the next level.  St. Louis Makes along with Square One  helped boost Mom’s Chicken Sausage  footprint.  In  2019, Mom’s Chicken Sausage was featured at Taste of St. Louis, which  helps local “food-centric” entrepreneurs in the community to be seen on a larger scale.  It was a true success, for Jill and her team.  With this visibility, she  had the longest line from the first day to the last day.  She outshined the well-known established restaurants.  Jill always strive for success in whatever she does and never forgets all the lessons learned along the way.Jill was formerly educated in the University City Schools Districts and St. Louis Community College.  She is the proud mother of 3 boys, John 35, Michael 27, and Jeremy 24.  Her boys along with the push and encouragement from her parents has formed her into the person and entrepreneurs she is today.

Marc Bowers
Marc Bowers is the founder of St. Louis Makes. He has over 20 years of new product development, product management and business development experience. Marc held positions at The Toro Company, Colgate-Palmolive and Purina as well as an entrepreneurial role as the founder of The Grun Company. He has managed numerous product launches and created several new distribution and dealer networks for various product lines across diverse industry segments. Marc earned a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University in New York City.
